چکیده

Percutaneous disc surgery, also known as percutaneous discectomy (PD), for herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP) was introduced by Hijikata [1] in Japan. Indeed, as compared with traditional disc surgery such as love’s procedure, PD is minimally invasive since it can be performed under local anesthesia. However, Hijikata’s technique does not use a spinal endoscope; thus, its reliability for the removal of the herniated fragment is lower than that with the traditional open technique.

Revision percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy under the local anesthesia for the recurrent lumbar herniated nucleus pulposus in a high class athlete: A case Report.

Percutaneous endoscopic discectomy (PED) is a minimally invasive spinal technique and has several advantages compared with open surgery. We describe repeat PED surgery for recurrent herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP). The patient was a 33-year-old handball high level player. Previously, he underwent transforaminal PED under local anesthesia for intracanalicular HNP at L4-5 level about 2 years ago...

Percutaneous endoscopic surgery for the lumbar spine has become established in the last decade. It requires only an 8 mm skin incision, causes minimal damage to the paravertebral muscles, and can be performed under local anesthesia. With the advent of improved equipment, in particular the high-speed surgical drill, the indications for percutaneous endoscopic surgery have expanded to include lum...

In-vivo endoscopic visualization of patho-anatomy in painful degenerative conditions of the lumbar spine.

The degenerative processes in an aging spine have been defined traditionally only by our knowledge of the biology of disc and facet degeneration, as well as interpretation of post-mortem cryosections by forensic anatomist Wolfgang Rauschning, M.D. In this chapter, visualization of in-vivo patho-anatomy in a degenerating disc and spinal segment is demonstrated at surgery using the Yeung Endoscop...

Transforaminal Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy and Foraminoplasty after Lumbar Spinal Fusion Surgery.

BACKGROUND The most common causes of pain following lumbar spinal fusions are residual herniation, or foraminal fibrosis and foraminal stenosis that is ignored, untreated, or undertreated. The original surgeon may advise his patient that nothing more can be done in his opinion that the nerve was visually decompressed by the original surgery. Post-operative imaging or electrophysiological assess...

Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy for a huge herniated disc causing acute cauda equina syndrome: a case report.

Microsurgery for lumbar disc herniation that requires surgical intervention has been well described. The methods vary from traditional open discectomy to minimally invasive techniques. All need adequate preanesthetic preparation of patients as general anesthesia is required for the procedure, and nerve monitoring is necessary to prevent iatrogenic nerve injury. Conventional surgical techniques ...
